External Sport Credits - Getting School Credits for Sport Training
External Sport Credits are available for current BC Ski Team and BC Development Squad athletes who complete their respective program obligations, and BC Winter Games Zone team members.

External sport credits are given to the athlete in the form of an elective credit, which is applied towards graduation. Credit is available for sports which have been approved by the Ministry of Education and as detailed on their website. The Sport Branch of the Ministry of Community, Sport and Cultural Development has worked with Provincial Sport Organizations (i.e. Cross Country BC) to identify what competition/selections athletes will receive credit for.
The sport of cross country skiing is eligible for:
- Athlete Level 1 UXSA 10 (4 credits) - BC Winter Games Zone Rep Team
- Athlete Level 2 UXSA 11 (4 credits) - BC Development Squad
- Athlete Level 3 UXSA 12 (4 credits) - BC Ski Team
External Sport Credits are also available for athletes who complete coaching certifications. The sport of cross country skiing is eligible for:
Coach Level 1 UXSC (2 credits) - Sport-Specific NCCP Community Sport or Instruction - Beginner Trained Course:
- NCCP Coach Initiation in Sport online module AND
- NCCP Intro to Community AND
- NCCP Community Coach workshop
- NCCP Make Ethical Decisions online evaluation.
You must complete the External Course Credentials Program Form, here, and email to Lindsey Olineck no later than May 21 in order for the proper materials to be sent to your school.
