Rémi Drolet 7th at World Junior Championships today in Finland!

Rémi (Black Jack Cross Country Ski Club, Rossland) completed the 30km classic race in 1:15:23, less than 7 seconds behind the winner.

In related news, Rémi's younger sister Jasmine placed 36th in the 15km race, the top Canadian, and the youngest competitor in the entire under-20 field, at only 16 years of age.

“It didn't all go smoothly as Remi Drolet had his ski, skied on by a competitor and had to recover from a face plant at the 10k mark. Both his bindings released and he had to make up around a 20 second gap on the main group as he was going through the stadium.
“Remi was boxed out a little at the finish, and otherwise maybe would have moved ahead a position or even 2. To the best of our recollection this puts him into some illustrious company, at least distance events, with only Alex Harvey with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th and Bert Bullock 4th in the 1974 European Junior, soon to be World Championships, having finished ahead of him in this category of competition. “
