CCBC PROVINCIAL TEAM DAY CAMPS, JUNE 20-21
Prince George, BC
Northern BC ‘Day Camps’
On June 20th and 21st, BC Ski Team, BC Development Squad and BC Talent Squad athletes from Smithers, Prince George and Williams Lake gathered together in Prince George for two social distancing Day Camps. The Head Coach was Assistant BC Ski Team/Telemark Nordic Club Head Coach Adam Elliot, from Kelowna.
On Day #1 the athletes tested themselves against other athletes from across Canada on the RUN, JUMP, PULL test. That session was followed by one on ski striding technique. In the afternoon the athletes headed out for some roller skiing. The focus was on skating technique. The older athletes had to tough it out through some heavy rain during their session.
Sunday (Day #2) arrived with beautiful sunshine and some nasty mosquitoes that kept us moving. The camp started with an early morning roller ski session for the older group (working on classic technique). That was followed by a roller ski session with a skating and double pole focus for the younger group. The weekend wrapped up with the older athletes doing an anaerobic threshold ski stride intensity session.
There were some great technique improvements made by the athletes, and everyone went home with some things to work on over the coming weeks.
